Clan Gathering

17th October 2020

Noorilim Estate, Nagambie, Victoria, Australia

William Winter-Irving Crest

Aim of the Clan Gathering

We’re not planning a highland game’s event, nor a Scottish Tattoo.

It’s hoped the day provides an opportunity to share family heirlooms & memorabilia, visit the nostalgic Noorilim mansion & gain some insight into links to the Winter’s, Winter-Irving & Irving’s of Bonshaw & connect with family.

Attendees are encouraged to bring family memorabilia to be exhibited & shared with others.

Many of us know we are related to the Winter-Irving’s or the Irving’s of Bonshaw in Scotland. We hope the gathering provides an opportunity to learn more about your ancestry & the history of the Winter-Irving’s

Andrew William Stanhope Winter-Irving & Andrew Bruce Mead

Andrew+Winter+Irving+R1.jpg

Andrew William Stanhope Winter-Irving is the son of Robert Irving Winter-Irving (1919-2007), the grandson of Stanhope Irving Winter-Irving (1890-1967) & great grandson of William Irving Winter-Irving (1840-1901).

Andrew and his ancestors have continued to farm in the heart of the Winter & Winter-Irving landholdings, Nagambie. He has a deep knowledge of the family & their properties in the area. A clan gathering at Noorilim was the logical place.

Andrew Mead head shot july19.jpg

Andrew Bruce Mead the son of John Bruce Mead, the grandson of Helen Margaret Mead (nee Winter-Irving 1900 -1973), the great grandson of John Irving Winter-Irving (1872-1942) & great great grandson of William Irving Winter-Irving (1840-1901)

The origins of the Gathering

With the recent passing of loved ones the two Andrew’s realised they were custodians of Heirlooms & Memorabilia belonging to the Winter, Irving & Winter-Irving clans. Through Ancestry research into the families history they soon realised they both had important pieces of the family history, that was fast losing its importance and links to the very prominent past.

As a Winter-Irving by name, Andrew was regularly contacted by distant relatives inquiring about the families history. Andrew Mead, through his uncle Maurice Mead, has numerous pictures & documents that needed preserving. Through a chance introduction by Rupert Irving (Heir to the Clan Chief of Irving of Bonshaw) in Scotland, the Andrew’s got together to discuss the family history. Andrew Winter-Irving had, for some time, been considering a Clan Gathering. The rest is history.

We hope this web site will allow us all to share important memories, documents, photos, portraits & memorabilia.
